Who We Are at MonteTours

We are not just a tour and transportation company; we symbolize resilience and passion.

Founded in the challenging year of 2020, amidst the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, our journey began when the world paused and tourism faced unprecedented hurdles.

We originally started in 2015 with a hotel in Monteverde, Costa Rica, which we had to close in 2020 due to the global pandemic, as our borders were closed for several months.

However, we saw an opportunity -to prepare for a new era of sustainable, responsible, and immersive travel- and ventured on a new journey, helping travelers plan to visit our country once the borders open again. Learn more about us here.

Best Experience Ever!

We spent a few days in Manuel Antonio and decided to join a guided walk in Manuel Antonio National Park. The guide moved at a relaxed pace and stopped often to point out wildlife we would not have noticed on our own. Using a spotting scope, we saw a couple of sloths, several monkeys, and a few small frogs hidden in the vegetation. The trail itself was easy to follow and not very demanding. After the walk, we had time to spend on the beach inside the park, which was a nice way to finish the morning. Overall, the tour was well organized and a good way to understand more about the forest and the animals that live there.

Awesome Zipline

During our visit to Manuel Antonio we tried one of the zipline tours in the area. The staff started with a short safety briefing and helped everyone get comfortable with the equipment before starting the course. The lines run above the forest canopy, and some platforms give a clear view of the surrounding hills and the Pacific coast. The activity took a couple of hours and included several lines connected by short walks between platforms. The guides kept the group moving while still allowing time to enjoy the views. If you want something active while visiting the area, this is a good option alongside the more typical wildlife tours.

So Many Animals!

We wanted to see a different side of Manuel Antonio, so we joined both a coastal boat tour and a mangrove trip during our stay. The boat tour followed the shoreline and gave us a different perspective of the cliffs and forest along the coast. We also saw dolphins during part of the ride, which was a nice surprise. On another day, we visited the mangroves near Damas Island. The guide explained how the mangrove ecosystem works and pointed out birds, reptiles, and a few monkeys along the channels. It was a calm and interesting tour, and a good contrast to the busier areas around Manuel Antonio National Park.
