San José City & Gold Museum Tour

Explore the history, culture, and daily life of Costa Rica through a guided visit to San José, the country’s capital. This tour combines visits to important historical landmarks with insights into Costa Rica’s political, economic, and cultural development.

The experience includes the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, the National Theater lobby, and several notable sites such as the Old Train Station, the National Liquor Factory, Congress, the Supreme Court of Elections, the Metallic Building, the Central Market, and city parks. Along the way, your guide will provide context about the people, institutions, and events that have shaped modern Costa Rica.

The tour concludes at a jewelry workshop, where you will learn about traditional metallurgical techniques used by Costa Rica’s indigenous cultures and the craftsmanship behind gold artifacts.

"A Good Introduction to San José"

This activity is a practical way to understand San José beyond a quick city visit. The tour combines important landmarks, local history, and cultural context in a clear and easy-to-follow way. The Gold Museum and the jewelry workshop add a useful connection to Costa Rica’s pre-Columbian past, while the stops around the city help explain how the capital has developed over time.

Transportation Included

Transportation is included as part of the tour and is an important part of the overall experience. The itinerary combines several locations across different areas, and moving between them can be challenging for visitors who are unfamiliar with local roads, schedules, and logistics. By traveling with the tour, guests can focus on enjoying the visit while the guide and driver handle transportation, timing, and coordination between stops. This helps keep the day organized and allows the group to make the most of the time available.

Our flexible cancellation policy allows you to cancel with a full refund up to 48 hours before the tour day. You can easily cancel online, directly from your confirmation email —no need to talk to someone, and no questions asked.

The tour is generally open through most weather conditions (including rain). However, if there is challenging weather (such as a thunderstorm), we will work with you to reschedule or refund you.
